About Us
1938: Vergil Stodgel started selling cars in Williamsfield as a satellite Chevrolet dealer.
1946: Gordon Wight married Vergil's daughter Anita.
1948: Gordon began running Stodgel Chevrolet.
1965: Stodgel Chevrolet became Wight Chevrolet with Gordon as dealer.
1971: Gordon and Anita's first son, Lee, started in sales.
1983: Gordon and Anita's daughter, Marianne, began working at the dealership as the business manager.
1985: Lee became the dealer at Wight Chevrolet.
1990: Gordon and Anita retired and moved to Florida.
1995: Lee's first son, Alan began selling with his dad, after he and his wife, Kathy, moved home from St. Louis.
In the years since, Alan and Kathy have started their own family with the addition of four more Wights: Parker, Garrett, Harrison, and Graham. Parker, the Great-Great Grandson of Vergil, was the "voice" of Wight Chevrolet's radio commercials for over 20 years. Graham (Alan's youngest son) is the current radio personality.
Wight Chevrolet has been, and continues to be, a family-owned business. For over 80 years it has provided hometown service to Williamsfield and an ever-widening area beyond.
2002: Wight Chevrolet opened a store in Kickapoo called Wight Auto Sales. Wight Auto Sales features many late model used cars and trucks. Matt Brown (co-creator of Parker's radio commercials) of Williamsfield is the transportation specialist at Wight Auto Sales.
